MESSAGES to the
5ifty5ivers
CONGRATULATIONS and BEST WISHES to the 55ers on its Golden Anniversary!
I must admit without hesitation that I’m always delighted whenever I’m in the midst of the members of Class ’55 because I have no choice. While others might have either a father or a mother belonging to this group, I have both. Anak ako ng FiftyFivers, 2x! Not only that. A handful of them helped and paved the way for me to enter politics. And I can’t forget it was before the FiftyFivers’ gathering on December 20, 1997 in Lucena City that my quest for becoming the town mayor was formally launched.
Being in the front seat in observing how the 55ers worked and lived, there’s no question that this class has taken on a multitude of roles, here and abroad. The list included them as public servants, educators, entrepreneurs, farmers, businessmen, wives, mothers, grandmothers, community volunteers, doctors, lawyers, engineers. Health workers, accountants and many, many more.
So many of them have lived such interesting lives and with success. Consider these, without publicity, the 55ers sponsored scholarships for poor but deserving students from Calauag. When typhoon Rosing wrought havoc and devastated our town in 1995, it embarked into relief operations in some of our barangays and nearby town of Lopez. Consequently, a number of them have been recognized as Outstanding Citizens of Calauag by KALA (Kala Achievement & Leadership Award) and as Outstanding Alumni by the Calauag Central College. It simply means that the 55ers, both individually and as a whole, have risen to every occasion. They have given of themselves in so many ways, not only to their personal advancement but also for the welfare of the needy.
Indeed, the 55ers reigned supreme.

I would like to begin with the saying that "the older we get, the more we like to reminisce." It is in this context that class reunions are a time to reflect on times past and relive and renew old friendships. And it is what the 55ers will exactly do when they celebrate their Golden Anniversary on December 29, 2005.
I am happy and proud to be invited in advance to their celebration that they always do without falter. Siguro, dahil halos magkasing edad kami ng mga 55ers at ako na lamang ang kanilang guro na nandito sa Calauag.
Each reunion celebration is as unique as the class 1955 itself-- yet the common experience for all classes is the joy of reuniting with classmates and reconnecting with. I believe this is the heart of a reunion. And the reason wny the 55ers has been successful in their past reunions is because they put their hearts on it. Only a well-coordinated group can do it and let's say, the 55ers is leading the way.
CONGRATULATIONS and GOD BLESS!!!
